60. Richard Clement Watson was born 07 Oct 1826 in Spencer Co. KY. He died 10 Aug 1886 (back) in Prairie Creek Twp., Vigo Co. IN and was buried in Watson Cemetery, Prairie Creek Twp., Vigo Co., IN. Richard married three times. Richard’s first marriage was 18 May 1848 to Louisa Ranney. Louisa was born 30 Jul 1829 and died 08 Nov 1848, less than six months after their wedding. He married his second wife, Amanda Melvina Paddock on 26 Sep 1850 in Vigo Co., Indiana. All of Richard’s children were born to his marriage with Amanda. After Amanda’s 1868 death, Richard remarried to Julia B. Stout on 13 Jun 1870. Julia had been dismissed on 11 Apr 1863 from the Prairie Creek Church of Christ after having been one of the charter members, when the church organized in Sept 1851. Richard Watson was admitted to the Prairie Creek Church of Christ March 1882. Richard's parents were Scarlet Watson and Kiziah Walker.
"RICHARD WATSON, farmer, Prairie Creek, was born in Spencer county, Kentucky, October 7, 1826, and in 1828 his parents moved to Sullivan county, Indiana, and in 1836 they came to Vigo county. His father, Scarlet, was a native of Virginia, born in 1801, and his mother, Kizzia WALKER, was born in Spencer county, Kentucky, in 1804. His father died in this county in 1876. Mr. WATSON has spent most of his life in Prairie Creek township. He has been married three times. His first wife was Louisa RANY, and she died in 1848. He was married the second time to M.M. PADOCK, and she died in 1868. His third choice was Mrs. J.B. STOUT, who is a native of Prairie Creek township, Vigo county, born in 1828. Mr. WATSON has four sons, all by his second wife: John L., James B., Benjamin F., and Albert H. Mr. WATSON now owns 126 and 1/2 acres of fine improved land, besides having provided land for all of his sons. He has made several trips down the Mississippi with flat‑boats in an early day, it taking seven weeks to make the trip and return." - H.W. 61. Amanda Melvina Paddock was born 21 May 1832 in Vigo Co., Indiana. She died 30 Sep 1868 in Vigo Co., Indiana and was buried in Watson Cemetery, Prairie Creek Twp., Vigo Co., IN. Amanda's parents were Lewis Paddock and Mary B. Shattuck.
