The first steam saw‑mill that was built in Jefferson Township (Clinton Co. OH) was built by two brothers, Lewis and Thomas Hockett, in the year 1850. It was successfully operated for a few years by them and then sold to Jacob Rhonemus (Jr. – son of Jacob and Hannah), who continued to run it for a considerable length of time, but was afterward owned by various parties and continued in operation for quite a number of years.
